The Ahmedabad Police’s Local Crime Branch (LCB) Zone-7 apprehended Amarnath Padhiyar, also known as “Madari,” a 37-year-old resident of Bholeshwar Society in Himatnagar. Padhiyar, wanted in three criminal cases across Gujarat, had been evading authorities for 10 months. The arrest was made as part of a pre-Rath Yatra drive to capture fugitives and maintain law and order.

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner and Joint Commissioner of Police (Sector-1) instructed officers to develop a special plan to nab the absconding accused and ensure security during the Rath Yatra. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivam Verma directed intensified efforts to locate wanted offenders using human intelligence and technical surveillance. Padhiyar was apprehended in the Sarkhej police station area based on specific intelligence received during a patrol.

Padhiyar, alias “Madari,” has a history of criminal activities dating back to 2019, with cases in Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Navsari, and Mehsana. He faces charges including cheating, criminal breach of trust, theft, and other offenses under the Indian Penal Code and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Legal action has been initiated against him for the pending cases.
