The Ahmedabad City Police has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the recent firecracker factory explosion in the Ramol area, resulting in nine fatalities and six injuries. The SIT, under the oversight of Joint Police Commissioner Jaipal Singh Rathore, includes key officials like Deputy Commissioner of Police Mayur Patil and Assistant Commissioner of Police Y.A. Gohil.
The SIT’s mandate is to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, adhering to legal protocols, and gathering all relevant physical and digital evidence. Collaboration with various agencies such as the Forensic Science Laboratory, explosives and electrical experts, Fire Department, and Labour Department is emphasized for a comprehensive inquiry. The team is tasked with submitting a progress report within 10 days and filing a chargesheet promptly after completing the investigation.
The tragic incident occurred at a factory in Vastral, leading to a massive fire that claimed lives and caused severe injuries. Legal actions have been initiated under relevant sections of the law against the factory operators, who are alleged to have operated without a valid license. The police have arrested the operators and are investigating further into the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
