The Ahmedabad City Police successfully reunited 64 missing children with their parents and guardians during the 149th Jagannath Rath Yatra. They set up 17 public assistance centers along the procession route to aid devotees and handle emergencies. These temporary ‘Jan Sahayata Kendras’ played a crucial role in assisting the large number of attendees during the annual event.
Police officers utilized loudspeaker announcements at each center to provide guidance and raise awareness among the public. The assistance centers were strategically located at various points along the Rath Yatra route, including places like Jamalpur, Khamasa crossroads, and Kalupur Circle Traffic Outpost. These centers proved instrumental in reuniting children who had become separated from their families during the day-long procession.
A total of 41 children from the Gaikwad Haveli Police Station area, 21 from Shaherkotda Police Station area, and one child each from Kalupur and Shahpur Police Station areas were identified. The police successfully traced their parents or guardians and safely returned the children to them after verification. All 64 children were reunited with their families under the supervision of officers stationed at the assistance centers.
