Ahmedabad rural police have intensified enforcement and security measures ahead of local body elections in Gujarat, seizing illicit liquor valued at over Rs one crore. The crackdown included confiscating 5,360 litres of country liquor and 16,976 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor during ongoing operations. Between April 1 and April 25, the police conducted 5,192 preventive actions and registered 870 prohibition-related offenses.
Authorities in Ahmedabad initiated 81 externment proposals, 25 PASA proposals, and 60 other legal proceedings during the same period. Additionally, a total of 1,687 weapons were deposited, 20 check-posts were set up, and 41,075 vehicles were inspected. The police also conducted preventive surveillance on 159 history-sheeters.
For election duty, 3,251 police personnel have been deployed across the Ahmedabad rural district, including various ranks from Superintendent of Police to Quick Response Teams. A total of 1,302 polling stations have been identified for the elections, with classifications including 41 hyper-sensitive, 408 sensitive, and 853 normal stations.
The Ahmedabad Rural Police has activated the ADR-SHIELD platform as a digital command-and-control center for real-time election monitoring. This system, operational since April 18, offers integrated election data, police deployment planning, Google Maps-based surveillance, and daily reporting. It provides officials with a comprehensive view of the district and detailed booth-level information for supervision and coordination.
