AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami accused the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government of offering ministerial positions to party legislators in exchange for support during a confidence vote. The AIADMK faced a split during the trust vote, with 25 rebel MLAs supporting the motion and 22 opposing it.

Palaniswami raised concerns about attempts to induce defections through promises of government positions. He emphasized that all 47 AIADMK MLAs were elected under the party’s symbol and criticized the Chief Minister for seeking support from a faction within the party.

The internal power struggle within the AIADMK intensified after the trust vote, revealing a sharp division within the party. Despite the rebellion, the TVK government led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay secured a comfortable victory in the Assembly.
