AIADMK functionaries have requested party General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami to consider welcoming back T.T.V. Dhinakaran into the party. They believe this move would enhance the party’s presence in the Cauvery Delta and southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The demand was made during consultation meetings aimed at evaluating the party’s performance in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election and discussing organizational reforms.
Palaniswami recently met with district functionaries from various regions in Chennai to gather feedback on strengthening the party. Kumbakonam Area Secretary Padma Kumaresan highlighted the strong support among grassroots workers and the public in favor of Dhinakaran rejoining the AIADMK. He emphasized that many party members believe the AIADMK would gain strength in the Delta belt and southern districts with Dhinakaran’s return.
During the discussions on revitalizing the party post-election setback, Palaniswami noted that T.T.V. Dhinakaran currently leads a separate political entity, the AMMK. Despite this, Kumaresan remains optimistic that Dhinakaran’s return could solidify the AIADMK’s traditional support base and enhance its electoral prospects. He expressed confidence that the party would grow stronger and potentially secure future government formation if Dhinakaran rejoins.
The consultations come as the AIADMK works on restructuring after losing some members to the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) post-election. Palaniswami’s district-wise review meetings aim to understand the party’s performance challenges and seek input from grassroots leaders to strengthen the organization for upcoming political scenarios.
