The AIADMK, led by general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, is on track to wrap up discussions on seat-sharing with the BJP and other NDA allies within the next four days. Palaniswami assured that negotiations are progressing smoothly for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, emphasizing a focus on winnability in the allocation of constituencies.
Palaniswami revealed that the seat-sharing formula would consider the electoral strength and prospects of each ally, aiming to maximize their chances of victory. Following a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, he expressed optimism about the evolving political scenario in Tamil Nadu and the strategic approach for the polls.
In a bid to expedite the process, BJP’s Tamil Nadu incharge Piyush Goyal is scheduled to visit the state for further discussions and to help finalize the agreement. Palaniswami dismissed rumors of a potential alliance with actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), affirming that no such talks have taken place.
Addressing recent controversies, Palaniswami addressed the issue surrounding AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP C. Ve. Shanmugam’s comments about actress Nayanthara, stating that the matter should be considered resolved following the MP’s apology.
