The All India Football Federation (AIFF) embraced the National Sports Governance Act 2025 (NSGA) during its Special General Body Meeting (SGBM) in Kolkata. The meeting, attended by 19 Executive Committee members, 32 Member State Associations members, and representatives from FIFA and Asian Football Confederation (AFC), took place at a city hotel. The AIFF’s General Body unanimously approved the adoption of the NSGA, emphasizing its significance for enhancing governance, transparency, and accountability in Indian football administration within the national sports framework.
The discussions at the meeting also covered constitutional reforms for the Member Associations of AIFF. The federation plans to share the draft constitution with its Member Associations to gather feedback. Member Associations will have 15 days to provide their final suggestions on the proposed draft. Additionally, deliberations were held on the commercial aspects of the federation’s Master Rights Agreement (MRA), a crucial decision influencing Indian football’s media rights, sponsorships, and marketing agreements.
During the meeting, it was revealed that two entities submitted bids for the Master Rights Agreement. The General Body approved granting the Executive Committee the authority to engage in further negotiations regarding the MRA. This step marks a significant development in the commercial landscape of Indian football, with the Executive Committee empowered to discuss and deliberate on the MRA negotiations.
