The All India Football Federation (AIFF) recently held a meeting with Indian Super League (ISL) clubs and Genius Sports to assess the proposal for the league’s commercial rights. The focus was on enhancing the ISL’s global competitiveness and ensuring fan engagement and financial sustainability.
Genius Sports presented a partnership-driven strategy that integrates technology, data, and commercial knowledge to elevate the league and align it with international standards observed in prominent competitions like the Premier League and Liga MX. The company’s expertise in various sports domains, such as officiating and fan engagement, was highlighted as a valuable asset for Indian football’s progress.
During the discussions, a key aspect was the pivotal role of technology in fortifying the league’s infrastructure. Plans included refining commercial tactics, digital platforms, and match operations, along with the introduction of AI-driven officiating tools to enhance consistency and transparency gradually.
Moreover, the proposed framework entails a revenue-sharing model aimed at ensuring sustainable growth that benefits clubs and contributes to the broader football ecosystem. The meeting also explored avenues to enhance fan interaction, create immersive experiences, and attract new commercial opportunities, thereby increasing the league’s attractiveness to partners and sponsors.
All participants stressed the significance of a cooperative, forward-looking strategy for the ISL’s development, emphasizing the need to enhance production quality, fortify club structures, and expand the league’s global presence through structured international distribution.
