The All India Football Federation (AIFF) addressed accusations of harassment and “heckling” made by Valanka Alemao, a woman Executive Committee member and FIFA Women’s Development Committee member. Alemao sent a letter to FIFA officials seeking an inquiry into the alleged mistreatment. An AIFF official strongly denied the allegations, questioning the definition of “heckle” and emphasizing the dignified presence of 13 Executive Committee members during the incident.
Alemao had initially written to AIFF officials on March 29, alleging disrespectful behavior and intimidation by certain AIFF members. The AIFF official refuted these claims, asserting that there was no harassment, gender bias, or inappropriate conduct during the meeting. The controversy arose from discussions on the National Sports Governance Act and a significant 20-year commercial bid for the federation.
The AIFF official clarified that the meeting focused solely on the two agenda points of the National Sports Governance Act and the commercial bid. The official maintained that there was no mention of harassment, gender discrimination, or any untoward behavior during the meeting.
