The All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal’s report on the recovered belt from Twisha Sharma’s death scene indicates suicide, in line with initial findings, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajnish Kashyap. The ligature material belt was seized by the Forensic Science Laboratory and sent to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for examination.
The report from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences has been received and will be forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory. Assistant Commissioner of Police Kashyap mentioned that the primary report has been substantiated with supporting evidence. Twisha’s family had raised concerns about a procedural lapse, alleging that the investigating officer failed to present the belt used for hanging to the doctors during the examination.
Acknowledging the recovery of the belt, Assistant Commissioner of Police Kashyap confirmed that it was sent for examination at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal. Meanwhile, a lookout notice has been issued for Twisha’s husband, advocate Samarth Singh, who is currently absconding. The police have also informed the Regional Passport Office about the seizure of Samarth’s passport.
Twisha Sharma, a 31-year-old former model, was discovered hanging at her in-laws’ residence in Bhopal on May 12, five months after her marriage. Her mortal remains are still at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal, as her family demands a second post-mortem in New Delhi and an investigation by an agency outside Madhya Pradesh due to perceived shortcomings in the initial autopsy. The family has sought permission from a Bhopal district court to transfer Twisha’s remains to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, for the second post-mortem, with a decision expected on Wednesday.
