The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, marked AIIMS Research Day 2026 at the Jawaharlal Auditorium, showcasing innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and national health priorities. Faculty members, researchers, clinicians, and students from various disciplines gathered to emphasize innovation, translational science, and health research aligned with national priorities. Prof. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, highlighted the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation and impactful, patient-centered science.
The event aimed to recognize research excellence, promote interdisciplinary dialogue, and underscore AIIMS’s role in evidence-based healthcare and policy-relevant research in India. Professor Nikhil Tandon, Dean of Research at AIIMS Delhi, mentioned the institution’s active public-sector research ecosystem with over 1,000 funded projects totaling more than Rs 300 crore. Additionally, fifty-seven AIIMS New Delhi scientists are ranked among the world’s top two percent of researchers.
AIIMS has expanded its research translation focus, supporting innovation applications, start-ups, and external funding. Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, CEO of Anusandhan National Research Foundation, discussed the integration of AI with science and engineering, emphasizing the potential to address societal challenges. The event included presentations by medical students, residents, scholars, and nursing students, showcasing robust research engagement.
