A team of four senior doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Delhi has reached Bhopal to conduct a second post-mortem examination of actor-model Twisha Sharma. The second autopsy, scheduled at AIIMS Bhopal on Sunday, is in response to the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s directive.
The High Court granted the request made by Twisha’s father for a fresh post-mortem examination by an independent medical board from AIIMS-Delhi. Sources revealed that the medical team from the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology will engage with Twisha’s parents and brother to address their concerns regarding the initial post-mortem report conducted at AIIMS Bhopal on May 13.
In addition to the medical examination, the doctors are expected to visit Twisha’s matrimonial home in Bhopal as part of the forensic investigation. Meanwhile, Samarth Singh, Twisha Sharma’s husband and the primary accused in the alleged dowry death case, has been remanded to police custody for seven days by a Bhopal court.
Samarth was presented before Judicial Magistrate First Class Anudita Gupta by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Bhopal Police after he attempted to surrender at the Jabalpur district court. The court has ordered the seizure of Samarth’s passport, which was subsequently submitted by his lawyer. Samarth, a lawyer and the son of former judge Giribala Singh, had been evading authorities since May 15 when the Katara Hills Police registered a dowry death and harassment case against him and his mother in connection with Twisha’s demise.
