AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi called on the Telangana government to promptly issue Permanent Residence Certificates (PRCs) for the underprivileged to prevent their exclusion from the voter list during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision. Owaisi criticized the ruling Congress party for not acknowledging the lack of documents among the poor in Telangana, emphasizing the importance of PRCs as a solution.
The Hyderabad MP questioned the delay in issuing PRCs and urged the government to take action before the final voter list is published. He highlighted the issuance of PRCs by the Karnataka government and questioned why a similar initiative was not being undertaken in Telangana despite Congress being in power in both states. Owaisi emphasized the need for concrete steps to address the document-related challenges faced by the economically weaker sections.
Owaisi also raised concerns about the silence of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on the issue of documentation for voters, pointing out the failure to address the non-availability of essential documents in Telangana. He stressed the significance of providing PRCs based on criteria such as educational records, Aadhaar, and ration cards to ensure inclusion in the voter list and access to state benefits.
