Air India has selected UK-based firm Skytech-AIC to oversee the sale of six Airbus A319 aircraft to enhance its fleet’s efficiency. The aircraft, produced between 2003 and 2006, are currently available for immediate purchase, excluding their CFM56-5 engines. Skytech-AIC has confirmed active marketing of the aircraft but has not disclosed the sale timeline, transaction value, or potential buyers’ identities.
This marks the second significant collaboration between Air India and Skytech-AIC. Previously, the firm successfully handled the sale of Air India’s Boeing 747-400 fleet, a process finalized in 2025. Managing Director Julian Balaam expressed the company’s satisfaction in being chosen once again by India’s national carrier, highlighting the seamless completion of the Boeing 747-400 fleet sale.
As part of the Tata Group’s fleet transformation initiative, the sale of the Airbus A319 aircraft aligns with Air India’s strategy to modernize operations and enhance efficiency. These Airbus A319 planes, primarily deployed on domestic and short-haul international routes, will be gradually phased out as Air India integrates newer Airbus A320neo-family jets into its fleet in the upcoming years.
