An Air India flight traveling from Bengaluru to Delhi faced an engine fire situation upon landing at Delhi airport. The airline confirmed the incident involving Flight AI2802. During the final approach to Delhi, the cockpit crew received a fire indication from one engine, which was later verified. Following standard procedures, the crew safely landed the aircraft at Delhi airport, ensuring the well-being of all passengers and crew.
The airport declared a “full emergency” in response to the engine fire alarm raised by Air India. The airline is actively collecting more information and collaborating closely with the relevant authorities. Air India assured that updates will be shared as more details emerge, maintaining transparency and communication with the public.
Earlier on the same day, another Air India flight from Delhi to Bengaluru encountered a tail-strike incident during landing. Flight AI2651, carrying 179 individuals, experienced a tail strike upon landing at the Bengaluru airport. Despite the incident, the aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew members disembarked without any issues.
As a precautionary measure, the aircraft involved in the tail-strike incident has been grounded for a thorough inspection. Air India emphasized that the investigation will adhere to established protocols to ensure safety and compliance. Consequently, the return flight, AI2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi, had to be canceled due to the grounding of the aircraft.
Efforts are underway by the airline to make alternative arrangements promptly for affected passengers, ensuring minimal disruptions to travel plans and passenger comfort.
