The Commission for Air Quality Management in Delhi NCR has lifted Stage III actions of the Graded Response Action Plan due to improved air quality resulting from strong winds. The decision was made during a review meeting where the Sub-Committee on GRAP recommended intensifying actions under Stage I and Stage II. Stages I, II, and III of the GRAP had been in effect since October and December 2025, respectively.
Sub-Committee Chairman S.D. Attri emphasized the importance of citizens adhering to the guidelines under GRAP-I and II to prevent a decline in air quality levels during the less favorable winter season. While Stage III actions are revoked, measures under Stage I and II will continue as per the modified GRAP to maintain air quality standards.
All implementing agencies are instructed to closely monitor and intensify measures under Stage I & II. Construction and demolition sites that were previously closed for violations are prohibited from resuming operations without specific approval from the Commission. A 12-point action plan under Stage II, initiated on October 19, includes enhanced enforcement by pollution control agencies and measures like mechanical sweeping, water sprinkling, and stricter checks on construction activities.
