Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda is set to lead the 16th Conference of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW) in New Delhi. The conference will see the launch of the Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK), a national program focused on delivering healthcare services to children up to 36 months old.
Health Ministers from states and Union Territories, Members of Parliament, and officials from central and state governments will convene at Vigyan Bhawan for the conference. Discussions will revolve around critical topics such as the National Health Mission, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), food and drug reforms, and allied health services.
The SSBSK initiative signifies a significant step towards ensuring comprehensive healthcare for all children in India. It aims to offer continuous home and community-based care for children from birth to 36 months, emphasizing the crucial early years for child survival, growth, nutrition, and brain development.
The program will merge two existing community-based initiatives, Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC) and Home-Based Care for Young Child (HBYC), into a unified framework. By doing so, SSBSK seeks to enhance child survival, nutrition, healthy growth, and early childhood development through an integrated approach.
