Airtel’s Chairman and Managing Director, Sunil Bharti Mittal, announced his intention to pass on the leadership to the next generation within the next decade during the company’s concall. Mittal, who recently secured another five-year term as Chairman of Bharti Airtel starting from October 1, 2026, expressed dissatisfaction with the Q4 financial results and aims to boost the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) of the telecom giant.
The telecom major’s mobile services division in India contributed 28,831 crore to the total revenue in Q4 FY2026, showing an 8.3% growth in the Jan-March quarter. This growth was supported by an expanding customer base and a 5% increase in ARPU to Rs 257 from Rs 245 as per regulatory filings.
Despite a 33.5% decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 7,325 crore for the March 2026 quarter, primarily due to one-time provisions for statutory and tax obligations, Bharti Airtel achieved a significant milestone with annual revenue surpassing Rs 2 lakh crore for the first time. Airtel’s consolidated revenue from operations surged by 15.6% to Rs 55,383.2 crore in Q4 FY26, driven by a 40% rise in the Africa business.
Following the announcement of its January-March quarter results, Bharti Airtel’s shares climbed over 3% as investors remained optimistic about the company’s strong fundamentals, despite a lower-than-expected net profit in the March quarter. By March 2026, the company had reached 65 crore customers, marking a significant milestone in its business expansion.
