Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) Chairman Humayun Kabir has approached the Calcutta High Court to address the post-poll violence in West Bengal. Kabir alleged politically motivated violence in Murshidabad district following the Assembly election results on May 4. He filed a case seeking immediate action to protect party workers and ensure peace.
Kabir’s plea to the court emphasizes the need for an impartial investigation and the safety of party workers amidst the ongoing violence. He cited instances of attacks on party workers and vandalism of properties. Kabir also highlighted administrative failures in addressing these issues and urged the court to intervene promptly.
Following the election results, where Kabir emerged victorious in Rejinagar and Nowda, violence has escalated in various parts of West Bengal. The BJP’s win ended the Trinamool Congress government’s 15-year rule. The state has witnessed incidents of violence, including attacks on Trinamool Congress workers and party offices vandalism.
