Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) Chief Humayun Kabir, who won in both his contested seats in the West Bengal Assembly polls, took a dig at the Trinamool Congress. Kabir remarked that in the Trinamool, apart from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, others are merely ‘lamp posts.’ He plans to vacate one seat for his son to contest the bypoll after his dual victory in Nowda and Rejinagar constituencies.
“People here see me as their guardian,” stated Kabir, emphasizing his connection with the public. The BJP emerged victorious in West Bengal, significantly reducing the Trinamool Congress to 81 seats. Kabir criticized the Trinamool Congress for allegedly being engulfed in corruption during its recent governance.
Attributing the Trinamool’s defeat to corruption, Kabir highlighted the lack of viable alternatives for voters in the recent polls. He drew parallels between the Trinamool Congress’ loss and the CPI(M)-led Left front’s defeat in 2011, noting the similarities in ministerial losses. Kabir expressed hope that the new BJP government in the state would prioritize public welfare and pledged to hold them accountable if they engage in misconduct.
