Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for its actions against ‘Shankaracharya’ Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati. Yadav accused the government of maliciously targeting the Hindu seer to cause embarrassment and humiliation. He expressed disappointment over the government’s handling of a 20-year-old case involving the Shankaracharya during the Magh Mela.
Yadav highlighted the government’s alleged mistreatment of the Shankaracharya, emphasizing the lack of respect shown towards the revered figure. He condemned the administration’s behavior and cautioned against baseless accusations. The FIR against Swami Avimukteshwaranand and his disciples, accusing them of sexually abusing two minors, was a point of contention raised by Yadav.
The SP chief criticized the government’s actions during the Magh Mela, stating that the Shankaracharya was unjustly prevented from participating in religious rituals. He accused the state government of displaying malice and vengeance towards the seer. Yadav suggested that the government’s behavior has damaged its credibility and raised concerns about political motives influencing the treatment of religious figures.
Akhilesh Yadav also accused the ruling party of creating a negative atmosphere in the state ahead of elections. He pointed out alleged mismanagement and irregularities in infrastructure projects under the current government. Yadav criticized the lack of progress in developmental initiatives, particularly citing concerns over rising costs and corruption in projects. Additionally, he mocked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s upcoming visit to Japan, questioning the priorities of the government.
