Akshay Bhatia and Sahith Theegala delivered impressive performances at the RBC Heritage golf tournament on the PGA Tour, securing Top-25 finishes. Bhatia climbed to T-16 from his previous position of T-25, while Theegala moved up to T-25 from T-41. Sudarshan Yellamaraju, another player of Indian origin, finished at T-53.
In a thrilling showdown, Matt Fitzpatrick held off World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in regulation play at Harbour Town Links. Despite Scheffler’s strong rally from a three-shot deficit, Fitzpatrick emerged victorious with a birdie in the playoff, securing his second RBC Heritage title.
Fitzpatrick’s triumph, his fourth on the PGA TOUR and 13th globally, propelled him to a career-high No. 3 in the world rankings. Notably, this victory marked his second win in the past month, following his success at the Valspar Championship, accumulating nearly $8.3 million in earnings across his last four tournaments.
The playoff mirrored Fitzpatrick’s previous victory at the RBC Heritage three years ago, where he defeated Jordan Spieth. Scheffler, trailing by three shots with four holes remaining, forced the playoff with a strong finish. However, Fitzpatrick’s exceptional shot-making skills ultimately secured his victory over Scheffler.
