Amid investigations into alleged embezzlement at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, Bharatiya Samaj Sevak Sangathan President Maulana Chaudhary Ifraheem Husain accused misappropriation of zakat funds from mosques and dargahs. He claimed that around Rs 40,000 crore of zakat funds meant for the poor and needy Muslims have been stolen, impacting the community’s development.
Husain also alleged the theft of around Rs 50,000 crore of Waqf-related donations, hindering progress towards the development of poor Muslims. He called for a Special Investigation Team probe similar to the one ordered by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the Ram Temple case. Meanwhile, documents submitted to the court revealed a theft of Rs 79.85 lakh from the temple, with significant cash seizures made from individuals linked to the case.
The investigating team disclosed that Lavkush and Anukalp Mishra had substantial cash seized, while Tinnu Yadav was found hiding Rs 1 lakh. The alleged misappropriation of funds has raised concerns about the impact on the Muslim community’s welfare and development.
