A distressing incident related to a suspected extramarital relationship occurred near Jinke Bacchahalli close to Doddaballapura town in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district. The incident resulted in the deaths of a woman, Sujatha, and her alleged lover, Ramanjinappa. Reports suggest that Ramanjinappa set Sujatha on fire before taking his own life to evade arrest.
Sujatha, a 35-year-old woman from Devanahalli, was reportedly involved in an illicit affair with Ramanjinappa from Marasandra, who had separated from his wife four months earlier. Following his divorce, Sujatha had been residing with him for around four months. Allegations indicate that Ramanjinappa was pressuring Sujatha to leave her husband permanently and live with him.
The situation took a tragic turn when Ramanjinappa allegedly burned Sujatha alive in a car on April 2 after she refused to abandon her husband permanently. Subsequently, he fled the scene, leaving authorities to discover that the vehicle used in the crime belonged to a person named Suresh from Marasandra. It is suspected that Ramanjinappa borrowed the car from Suresh to carry out the heinous act.
As police intensified their search for Ramanjinappa, he reportedly took his own life by jumping in front of a train near Bidadi on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The incident has been recorded at the Doddaballapura Rural Police Station, with investigations ongoing to shed light on the tragic events.
In a separate incident in March 2025, a court in Mysuru sentenced Mahadevanayaka of Halepura village in Kavalande police station limits to life imprisonment until natural death for the brutal murder of his paramour in July 2022. Mahadevanayaka had been in an extramarital relationship with the woman for two decades and had financially supported her. However, a dispute arose three months before the murder, leading to the tragic outcome.
