The alleged suicide of Twisha Sharma (33) at her in-laws’ house in Bhopal’s Katara Hills on May 12 has sparked discussions in Bhopal and Noida. Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, a retired Bhopal district court judge and current Head of the Bhopal Consumer Court, is a co-accused in the case. Her husband, advocate Samarth Singh, is on the run, and his interim bail plea was turned down by the Bhopal district court.
Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, expressed the family’s struggle for justice, emphasizing the formidable status of the accused individuals. He highlighted the challenges faced due to the accused’s influential positions, with Giribala Singh being a retired judge and her son an advocate and member of the Bhopal Bar Council. Navnidhi Sharma also alleged a direct connection between the accused and senior police officials, pointing to the pressure on the police to protect them.
Navnidhi Sharma raised concerns about the investigation and post-mortem process, stressing the need for a fresh medical examination. He demanded a second post-mortem at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, citing suspicions of undue influence in the local procedures. The family’s quest for justice has led them to seek legal assurances for the safety and preservation of Twisha’s body, with plans to escalate the case to the Supreme Court due to perceived obstacles in the current proceedings.
