In a significant breakthrough, the Alwar District Police and the District Special Team (DST) have successfully dismantled an interstate gang involved in ATM theft. The operation led to the arrest of two criminals and the recovery of the stolen ATM machine from Rathi Market. The police also seized an Eicher tractor and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the crime.
Alwar Superintendent of Police Sudhir Chaudhary mentioned that the operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Deepak Kumar and Ramgarh Circle Officer Pintu Kumar. Special teams, including personnel from Udyog Nagar Police Station, the DST, and the Cyclone Cell, worked together under the leadership of Station House Officer (SHO) Bhupendra Singh to crack the case.
On the night of June 17, unidentified thieves targeted an ATM at Rathi Market, uprooting the machine that contained Rs 4,92,500 in cash. Following a complaint, the police initiated an investigation and found that the gang had a new modus operandi. They used a local associate for location surveillance but did not involve them in the theft to avoid detection.
The criminals tied the ATM with ropes or chains, used a vehicle to pull it out of the ground, and then loaded it into another vehicle to escape. Police reviewed CCTV footage from numerous cameras across Rajasthan and Haryana to track the suspects. With the help of human intelligence and technical analysis by the Cyclone Cell, the investigators successfully located the accused and recovered the damaged ATM machine.
