Amanda Anisimova and Karolina Pliskova started their Wimbledon journey with impressive straight-set victories on Tuesday. Anisimova, the sixth seed, defeated Lina Gjorcheska 6-3, 6-2 in just over an hour. Meanwhile, former finalist Pliskova overcame Tereza Valentova 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 15 minutes.

Anisimova, seeking redemption after last year’s final loss, showcased her dominance on the court. She controlled the game with powerful baseline shots, winning 83% of points on her first serve and securing victory in just 61 minutes. Notably, she did not face a single break point during the match.

Pliskova’s victory was a display of patience and experience. She capitalized on crucial moments, securing a break in each set to claim the win. With this victory, Pliskova improved her record against Czech players and demonstrated her prowess on the Wimbledon stage.

The matches highlighted Anisimova and Pliskova’s strong start at Wimbledon, setting a positive tone for their campaign at the prestigious tournament.
