After India’s dominant 5-0 T20I series victory over Sri Lanka, Amanjot Kaur, a seam-bowling all-rounder, was awarded the best fielder medal for her outstanding performance. Head coach Amol Muzumdar praised Kaur as the standout fielder of the series, presenting her with the medal amidst cheers from the Indian team.
In the final match at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, India defeated Sri Lanka by 15 runs. Amanjot showcased a composed all-round display, scoring 21 runs off 18 balls, taking 1 wicket for 17 runs, and displaying sharp fielding skills.
India’s triumph over Sri Lanka marked a successful year, including winning the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, retaining the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, and securing series victories against England. Coach Muzumdar extended New Year wishes, emphasizing the team’s impressive 5-0 series win as a significant achievement.
Following the New Year break, Indian team members will participate in the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) from January 9 to February 5. The tournament, held at DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai and Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, will kick off with Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru, captained by Smriti Mandhana.
