Amarnath Yatra has been halted for the fourth consecutive day as adverse weather conditions persist. All devotees at transit camps in Baltal and Nunwan (Pahalgam) are reported safe. The suspension of religious Yatras in Jammu and Kashmir, including Amarnath Ji Yatra, Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra, Shiv Khori Yatra, and Machail Mata Yatra, continues due to heavy rain, flash floods, and cloudbursts.
The Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast prompted the UT administration to suspend all Yatras in J&K. The Amarnath Yatra from Baltal and Nandiwan-Pahalgam tracks was suspended on July 18. Pilgrims were advised not to proceed until official communication following the IMD forecast. Stranded pilgrims were allowed to leave for darshan on specific dates, but no Yatri was permitted to proceed to the holy cave on Wednesday due to heavy rainfall.
Yatra from Jammu to base camps of Baltal and Nandiwan-Pahalgam also remained suspended for the third day. Approximately 6,000 pilgrims are housed in Yatri Niwas in Bhagwati Nagar. Over 2,000 stranded pilgrims left Jammu due to continuous rainfall. Additionally, Sadhus and philanthropic organizations are providing assistance and free food to pilgrims.
