Hollywood actress Amber Heard, known for her legal dispute with ex-husband Johnny Depp, revealed that she feels unable to speak following the legal ordeal. In a documentary called ‘Silenced’, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, Heard expressed her reluctance to share her story about her marriage to Depp. She emphasized that she no longer wishes to use her voice.
The documentary also involves international human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson, who supported Heard during Depp’s 2018 libel lawsuit against ‘The Sun’ newspaper. Robinson helped Heard as she faced backlash from Depp’s fans during the trial. Heard highlighted the broader issue of women facing similar challenges, stating that her experience is an amplified version of what many women endure.
Despite the challenges, Heard finds inspiration in other women speaking out against injustices. She expressed hope for a better future, especially for her daughter, as she sees women bravely addressing power imbalances. Although Depp lost his libel case against The Sun, he sued Heard for defamation over an op-ed she wrote about surviving domestic abuse. The jury ruled in Depp’s favor, awarding him $1 million in damages.
