Ambuja Cements has announced a partnership with UK-based clean technology company Leilac Limited to create a large-scale low-carbon cement production facility in Sanghipuram, Gujarat. The project, located at Ambuja Cements’ Sanghi plant, aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over one million tonnes annually, paving the way for sustainable cement production in India and globally.
Karan Adani, Director of Ambuja Cements, emphasized the importance of technological innovation and collaboration in transitioning the cement industry towards a lower-carbon future. The partnership with Leilac underscores Ambuja Cements’ dedication to exploring next-generation technologies that enhance energy efficiency and promote sustainable growth.
This collaboration aligns with Ambuja Cements’ decarbonization strategy and supports its net zero target for 2050. By integrating Leilac’s carbon capture and electric heating technology, the project at the Sanghi plant will focus on reducing emissions through increased use of renewable energy and capturing process carbon dioxide.
