Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Nitin Nabin conveyed warm wishes on the 66th Gujarat Foundation Day, celebrating the state’s cultural heritage and its role in national development. Shah praised Gujarat’s history, culture, and entrepreneurship, highlighting its contributions to India’s progress and unity. Nitin Nabin also lauded Gujarat’s vibrant culture, hardworking populace, and historical significance, emphasizing the state’s resilience and vision.
The Gujarat Foundation Day, also known as Gujarat Gaurav Diwas, commemorates the state’s formation in 1960 after the division of the former Bombay State based on language. The day will be marked with official ceremonies, cultural events, and public festivities, with the main state-level program scheduled in Surat.
Surat will host a grand celebration featuring a ceremonial procession, cultural displays, and a large cultural program titled “Glorious Gujarat: From Heritage to Development” at Dumas Sea Face. The event will showcase Gujarat’s cultural traditions and developmental themes through music, dance, and light-and-sound presentations.
As part of the festivities, Gujarat Garima Award and other state honors will be conferred, and publications documenting Surat’s progress will be released. The city’s government and heritage buildings have been illuminated, coinciding with the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference focusing on industry, MSMEs, sustainability, and regional development.
