Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, addressed a gathering in Barrackpore, alleging that the recent fire at Wow Momo’s facility in Anandapur, Kolkata, which claimed 25 lives, was not accidental but a consequence of corruption within the West Bengal administration led by Mamata Banerjee. Shah criticized the delay in the arrest of the factory owner, hinting at political influence shielding him.
Shah emphasized that the tragic incident was not a mere mishap, questioning the owner’s connections and overseas trips with influential figures. He pledged a thorough investigation and promised accountability if the BJP assumes power in West Bengal post the upcoming Assembly elections. Shah also expressed confidence in the BJP’s growing electoral prospects in the state.
Highlighting the BJP’s electoral gains in West Bengal, Shah pointed out the party’s increasing vote share and its emergence as the principal Opposition in the state. He criticized Mamata Banerjee’s political strategies and her aspirations for her nephew’s political future. Shah reassured the Matua Community regarding their voting rights amidst ongoing electoral revisions, dismissing fears of disenfranchisement.
