Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah led a security review meeting in Bikaner, Rajasthan, focusing on enhancing security measures along the India-Pakistan International Border. The meeting, attended by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and other officials, emphasized the government’s commitment to border security under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
During the discussion, Minister Shah stressed the importance of coordination between central and state agencies to bolster border management and internal security. A significant decision emerged from the meeting to establish a “360-degree security grid” in each border district, aiming for a comprehensive and efficient border management system involving local residents, state authorities, and security agencies.
Furthermore, Minister Shah instructed strict enforcement against illegal constructions within a 15-km radius of the International Border and called for collaboration among agencies like the Border Security Force, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Narcotics Control Bureau, and state bodies to combat cross-border crimes effectively. District Magistrates were assigned additional responsibilities to ensure compliance, monitor financial activities, and strengthen actions against smuggling networks.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of implementing the Vibrant Villages Programme-II in border regions to enhance governance, infrastructure, and economic development. Additionally, there was a focus on achieving full government program coverage in the border areas to ensure comprehensive security measures.
