Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the West Bengal BJP government for swiftly allocating 600 hectares of land to the Border Security Force (BSF) to enhance border fencing along Bangladesh within a week. Speaking at an event in Sonipur village, Gandhinagar, Shah highlighted the BJP’s commitment to expedite border security measures in the state. He credited the government for fulfilling its promise made during the election campaign.
Congratulating West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Shah acknowledged the prompt transfer of land to the BSF and the Central government in the Chicken Neck area. He emphasized the significance of this action in bolstering national security objectives and noted a decrease in infiltration along the Bangladesh border post the government change in Bengal. Shah mentioned a reduction in daily infiltrations under the previous administration compared to the current scenario where infiltrators are reportedly returning on their own.
Highlighting the BJP’s growing political influence nationwide, Shah referenced the recent victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, where the party triumphed over the Trinamool Congress-led government. He underscored the BJP’s governance over 80% of the country’s geographical area and its recent success in expanding its presence in various regions, including Bengal.
During his visit to Gandhinagar for developmental initiatives, Shah inaugurated several projects totaling Rs 1,200 crore in Kalol and Gandhinagar North Assembly constituencies. These projects, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and public amenities, were attributed to collaborative efforts between the state government, the Centre, and contributions from private industrial groups through Corporate Social Responsibility funds.
