Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party during an election rally in Dhekiajuli, emphasizing the BJP-led governments’ transformative efforts in Assam. Shah highlighted the significant financial investments, infrastructure development, and peace restoration initiatives undertaken by the BJP in the state. He compared the funds received by Assam under Congress and BJP rule, noting a substantial increase during the Modi government’s tenure.
Shah underscored the industrial and educational advancements in Assam, mentioning the establishment of a semiconductor plant by the Modi government and the efforts to set up medical and engineering colleges in every district by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Home Minister credited the BJP for bringing peace to Assam, mentioning the reduction in violence and the surrender of thousands of youths due to peace accords.
In a direct attack on the opposition, Shah accused Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi, of hindering the removal of illegal infiltrators from voter lists. He challenged them to clarify their stance on the issue, questioning whether they support infiltrators or the people of Assam. Shah also highlighted cultural and historical aspects, citing the Bharat Ratna conferred on Bhupen Hazarika under Modi’s leadership and the historical neglect of Assam by the Congress.
Shah further claimed that the BJP government ensures the protection of India’s land, referencing historical instances of neglect and asserting a strong national security position. He contrasted the current government’s stance with past actions, emphasizing the commitment to safeguarding India’s territorial integrity.
