Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Border Security Force (BSF) post at Sanchu along the India–Pakistan border in Bikaner, stressing the need for a new approach to address evolving security challenges and technology-driven threats. Shah highlighted the importance of expanding the BSF’s traditional roles to counter modern threats, emphasizing the use of technology by adversaries to target national security. He called for increased coordination with state governments and civil administration to strengthen the security framework in border areas.
Adopting a proactive stance, Shah urged immediate reporting of any illegal construction within 50 kilometers of the border to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police. He also emphasized the significance of monitoring drone activities, narcotics smuggling, and anti-national operations, underlining the necessity of a robust communication network with local authorities. Shah linked border security with local development initiatives, emphasizing the role of the BSF, Army, citizens, and state government in creating a formidable security grid.
Recognizing the contributions of BSF personnel, Shah lauded their courage and resilience during Operation Sindoor, praising their unwavering commitment and effective responses to challenges. He underscored the historical importance of the Sanchu post, recounting its role during the 1965 India-Pakistan War and the valor displayed by Indian forces in repelling Pakistani advances. Shah announced infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing mobility and connectivity for security forces, including the construction of roads and improved border fencing.
During his visit, Shah inaugurated women’s barracks, affirming the government’s commitment to gender-inclusive security forces and equal opportunities for women in national security. He pledged to ensure essential facilities for women by 2030, highlighting ongoing infrastructure developments in Rajasthan. Shah emphasized the modernization of India’s armed forces and border security measures, advocating for a strong response to infiltration attempts while prioritizing prevention through strategic programs like the Vibrant Villages Programme.
Interacting with BSF personnel, Shah shared a meal with troops, inspected the border through binoculars, and planted a symbolic sapling, emphasizing the significance of environmental conservation. He praised the BSF’s environmental efforts and sacrifices made by security personnel in safeguarding the nation’s borders, acknowledging their dedication and service in challenging terrains and extreme conditions.
