Union Home Minister Amit Shah conveyed his wishes on National Girl Child Day, highlighting the strength and importance of girls in nation-building. Shah praised historical figures like Rani Lakshmi Bai and emphasized the leading role of women in India’s progress today.

National Girl Child Day, observed annually on January 24, focuses on promoting girls’ rights, education, and overall well-being. The day aims to raise awareness about empowering girls and eliminating gender discrimination barriers. Various government schemes and initiatives, such as ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and ‘Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana,’ aim to empower girls and improve their socio-economic status.

The government has also implemented legal measures like the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act to protect and empower the girl child. Initiatives like Mission Vatsalya and PM CARES for Children support child development and provide assistance to vulnerable children. National Girl Child Day underscores the importance of empowering girls for a more inclusive and equitable society.
