Union Home Minister Amit Shah, underlining the government’s firm stance against terrorism, unveiled a digital platform for precise analysis of bomb explosion incidents. This platform, known as the National IED Data Management System (NIDMS) by the National Security Guard (NSG), is hailed as a cutting-edge tool in combating terrorism. Shah emphasized that NIDMS will play a crucial role in investigating terrorist activities, deciphering explosion trends, and devising effective counter-strategies.
The NIDMS is designed to be a comprehensive platform for analyzing the patterns of bomb explosions across the country, including the methods and explosives used. Shah, inaugurating the platform via video conferencing, highlighted its significance as a one-click access window for data from various case files for investigative agencies and anti-terror units. Through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), NIDMS will link with diverse data sources to fortify the nation’s security infrastructure.
Shah emphasized the importance of NIDMS in enhancing the understanding of terrorist activities, explosion patterns, and strategic responses. He stressed the pivotal role of the NSG in bolstering the country’s internal security, attributing the peaceful sleep of citizens to the valor and dedication of NSG personnel. The NSG, known for its swift and accurate responses to threats, anti-hijack operations, and bomb disposal missions, is hailed as a world-class force with a zero-error track record.
The NSG, established in 1984, has been instrumental in analyzing global terrorist incidents and maintaining readiness for diverse security challenges. Shah announced the establishment of NSG regional hubs in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and a new hub in Ayodhya to enhance operational efficiency and response times. The NSG’s evolution over four decades has aligned with the evolving security landscape, encompassing counter-terrorism operations, anti-hijacking missions, and advanced bomb disposal systems.
Shah lauded the NSG’s Special Action Groups in Delhi, dedicated to counter-terrorism and anti-hijacking operations, highlighting their round-the-clock vigilance and the nation’s benefit from their unwavering commitment. The NSG’s contributions have been recognized through numerous honors, including Ashok Chakras, Kirti Chakras, Shaurya Chakras, Police Medals, and Sena Medals, underscoring their exceptional service to the country.
