Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah is set to lead the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) on June 26 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The gathering, organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), aims to bolster the government’s initiatives in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a drug-free India.

The meeting will bring together stakeholders from 44 Union ministries and departments, in addition to 108 representatives from state governments and drug law enforcement agencies, in a hybrid format. During the event, HM Shah will unveil the ‘Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026-2029)’, crafted through extensive consultations with various stakeholders.

This document lays out a comprehensive roadmap focusing on demand reduction, supply reduction, and harm reduction aspects of narcotics control. It advocates for a network-centric enforcement approach and includes strategies to combat synthetic drugs, darknet-enabled trafficking, youth drug abuse prevention, and the expansion of treatment and rehabilitation facilities over the next three years.

The roadmap also assigns responsibilities, sets timelines, and establishes measurable targets for stakeholders, integrating enforcement, rehabilitation, public awareness, capacity building, and inter-agency coordination. It is anticipated to serve as a guiding framework for policy formulation and implementation to combat drug trafficking and abuse effectively.

HM Shah will also unveil the NCB Annual Report 2025 and inaugurate newly constructed NCB zonal offices in Jammu and Guwahati. Furthermore, the Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign will kick off, aiming to destroy around 2,09,500 kg of narcotics valued at ₹6,000 crore across the country in compliance with legal provisions.

The meeting will offer a platform to evaluate and analyze the current endeavors in combating drug trafficking and abuse. It will also discuss primary challenges and strategies to enhance narcotics control over the upcoming three years, reinforcing the government’s ‘zero tolerance’ stance against drug trafficking, as highlighted by the Prime Minister.
