Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the Joint Regional Official Language Conference in Agartala on Friday. The conference will bring together over 3,000 senior officials, representatives, and experts from various regions of the country. Participants from around 20 states will attend, marking the first such event in Tripura.
Artificial intelligence and modern technologies will be highlighted at the conference to address language-related challenges. The emphasis on using Hindi and other Indian languages, including local languages, to preserve cultural roots will be a key focus. The Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs has been actively promoting the wider use of these languages.
During the conference, 80 Regional Official Language Awards for the year 2024-25 will be presented to recognize exemplary implementation of the Official Language Policy. Additionally, selected City Official Language Implementation Committees will receive honors for their contributions. The event will also feature the release of special publications and an exhibition showcasing language-related innovations.
A yoga session aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle will precede the conference, offering officials stress-management exercises and guidance on yoga practices. The Department of Official Language, established in 1975, plays a crucial role in implementing constitutional provisions related to Hindi as the official language of the Union.
