Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Gujarat on June 27 and 28. He will kick off the ‘Bharat Taxi’ initiative in Gandhinagar and then inaugurate the ‘PM Family Care Tracker Pilot Project’ the next day. The Bharat Taxi program, part of the Ministry of Cooperation’s efforts, offers a driver-owned ride-hailing platform with a zero-commission model.
The initiative aims to enhance cooperative-based services, allowing drivers to keep their earnings from fares and share in the platform’s profits. Unlike traditional app-based aggregators, Bharat Taxi enables booking of taxis, auto-rickshaws, and two-wheelers. Initially launched in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat, it plans to expand nationwide over the next few years.
During the national launch of Bharat Taxi, Amit Shah expressed plans for a countrywide rollout within three years. He emphasized the benefits for drivers, ensuring profits are shared with platform associates rather than private aggregators. Additionally, the Home Minister will introduce the PM Family Care Tracker Pilot Project at Gandhinagar’s Town Hall on Saturday, marking the project’s pilot phase.
Amit Shah’s upcoming visit to Gujarat follows a series of recent public engagements across the country. His previous visit on June 21 for the ’12th International Day of Yoga’ celebrations in Ahmedabad highlighted the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” Shah emphasized the significance of yoga for holistic well-being, participating in a public yoga session during the event.
