Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to kick off the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Parivartan Yatra’ program in South 24 Parganas district on March 1, signaling the start of the party’s campaign for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. The first ‘Parivartan Yatra’ will commence from the Raidighi Assembly constituency, with Shah inaugurating the program and addressing party members and supporters.
Simultaneously, four other ‘Parivartan Yatras’ will be launched on the same day from different Assembly constituencies across the state, including Cooch Behar Dakshin, Krishnanagar Dakshin, Kulti, and Garbeta. Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will also initiate another ‘Parivartan Yatra’ from the Sandeshkhali Assembly constituency on March 2.
The BJP plans to conduct these parallel ‘Parivartan Yatras’ to cover all 294 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal as part of its extensive outreach campaign leading up to the elections. Notable BJP leaders like Nitin Nabin, J.P. Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Dharmendra Pradhan, Smriti Irani, and Devendra Fadnavis are expected to join the campaign at various stages.
The ‘Parivartan Yatra’ program will culminate with a significant public rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to address the crowd, tentatively scheduled for the end of the second week or the beginning of the third week of March. The exact date for PM Modi’s rally is yet to be confirmed.
