Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to commence a three-day visit to West Bengal starting Monday night. His agenda includes assessing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) readiness for the upcoming crucial Assembly elections in the state next year. Shah will land at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and immediately convene a closed-door meeting with the core team of BJP leaders in West Bengal to evaluate election preparations.
During his visit, Shah is anticipated to provide final suggestions on the formation of the BJP’s state committee and evaluate the party’s organizational capabilities. Additionally, he is expected to devise a plan to address sensitive issues related to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the state and outline the party’s campaign strategy for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, focusing on key issues to emphasize.
Despite the festive atmosphere preceding New Year celebrations, the Union Home Minister will refrain from public addresses, rallies, or roadshows during his stay. On December 30, Shah’s itinerary includes three engagements: a media interaction, a visit to the ISKCON temple in central Kolkata, and a trip to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in the city for discussions with senior office-bearers.
Concluding his visit on December 31, Shah will boost morale among party workers in Kolkata by addressing a workers’ conference before departing for New Delhi later that evening.
