The Gujarat State Monitoring Cell conducted a raid near Mevad village in Mehsana district, seizing Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and other assets exceeding Rs 1.26 crore. The operation, led by PSI V.K. Rathod, resulted in the confiscation of 22,773 bottles of IMFL from an intercepted truck on the Ahmedabad-Palanpur Highway.
The seized liquor, valued at Rs 1,10,78,149, included various brands such as Royal Stag Whisky, Royal Challenge Fine Reserve Whisky, Tuborg Premium Strong Beer, and Kingfisher Strong Classic Premium Beer. Additionally, authorities confiscated the truck, two mobile phones, cattle-feed covering bags, and cash, bringing the total value of the seized items to Rs 1,26,01,389.
Following the raid, one individual, identified as Ghamanda Ram Chetan Ram Jat from Rajasthan, was arrested as the driver of the truck. Investigations are ongoing to locate three other suspects involved in the illegal liquor supply chain, including the liquor supplier, truck owner, and the intended recipient in Rajkot.
The recent seizure is part of a series of prohibition-related crackdowns in Gujarat, where authorities have been actively targeting the transportation and distribution of illicit liquor to uphold the state’s prohibition laws.
