Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed a gold-decorated statue of Lord Shiva at Sursagar Lake in Vadodara on Sunday. The unveiling was part of the Maha Aarti and Shiv Yatra celebrations held for Maha Shivratri. The event, organized by the Suvarna Sankalp Foundation, attracted a significant number of devotees.
Extending his wishes for Maha Shivratri, Home Minister Shah expressed his gratitude for being present at this auspicious event in the city. He noted the enthusiastic participation of residents in the Shiv Yatra. The initiative to install a grand idol of Lord Shiva in the middle of Sursagar and organize a Shiv procession on Shivratri was attributed to Savliwala Maharaj.
Shah remarked on the fulfillment of the initiative, highlighting the determination of Savliwala Swami, Pujya Pramukh Swami, and devoted individuals since 1996. He commended Yogeshbhai Patel, the founder of Suvarna Sankalp Foundation, for his persistent efforts and recognized the community of Vadodara for their support.
In his speech, the Home Minister mentioned the government’s endeavors in the past 11 years, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to uphold Sanatan traditions. He emphasized the restoration of symbols of self-respect that had been marginalized during foreign rule. Projects like the Ayodhya temple, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Somnath Temple reconstruction, and Mahakal Corridor were cited as examples of this restoration.
