Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah revealed the government’s ambition to triple India’s milk output in the next decade through Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘White Revolution 2.0’ initiative. Shah disclosed this target during the inauguration of Madhur Dairy’s new milk processing and packaging facility in Gandhinagar. Emphasizing the pivotal role of India’s cooperative dairy network, Shah highlighted its significance in elevating milk production and augmenting rural incomes.
Shah praised Gujarat’s dairy cooperatives, such as Amul, Banas Dairy, and Mehsana Dairy, for embracing cutting-edge technologies to enhance productivity and profitability for livestock rearers. He underscored the transformative impact of technology-driven advancements in the dairy sector, enabling farmers to venture into value-added products and bolster income streams. Additionally, Shah commended dairy cooperatives for diversifying into products like protein shakes, probiotic curd, high-protein beverages, and nutrition-based items.
Furthermore, Shah lauded the market success of Amul’s sugar-free chocolate products, asserting their leading position in the sugar-free chocolate segment nationwide. He highlighted the positive outcomes benefiting farmers and livestock rearers affiliated with the cooperative network. Shah also discussed the pivotal role of digital tools in agricultural and livestock management, citing the launch of Amul’s AI digital assistant “Sarlaben” by Prime Minister Modi to aid rural women engaged in farming and animal husbandry activities.
Moreover, Shah announced the government’s objective of boosting dairy sector income by a minimum of 20% through the adoption of a circular economy model. This initiative aims to enhance income levels within the dairy industry significantly. The event witnessed the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Cooperation Minister Jitu Vaghani, Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Madhur Dairy officials, cooperative leaders, and dairy farmers from Gandhinagar district.
