Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee becomes upset whenever he warns Trinamool Congress-backed hooligans at public rallies about severe actions during disruptions in the polling process. Shah emphasized that these hooligans, causing disturbances through violence during elections, will face consequences if they continue their actions, with imprisonment being a likely outcome. He made these remarks during a campaign rally in Jamalpur, East Burdwan district.
Shah also criticized Mamata Banerjee for her response to the rape of a Dalit medical student in Durgapur a few months ago, where she advised women not to go out after 7 p.m. Shah highlighted that none of the 20 Indian states with BJP Chief Ministers have given such advice, questioning Banerjee’s ability to ensure women’s safety in West Bengal. He assured that under BJP governance, anyone with ill intentions towards women will be promptly arrested, enabling women to move freely even late at night.
Additionally, Shah pledged immediate action against corruption syndicates associated with Trinamool Congress leaders once a new government is established. He promised that these syndicates would be eradicated once the BJP assumes power, metaphorically stating that they would be eliminated in the Bay of Bengal.
