Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended birthday greetings to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on his 64th birthday. Shah commended Patel’s efforts in advancing Gujarat’s development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Patel, born on July 15, 1962, in Ahmedabad, has been serving as Gujarat’s 17th Chief Minister since September 2021.
Patel, a civil engineer by profession, obtained a diploma from Government Polytechnic in Ahmedabad before venturing into politics. He commenced his political journey through local self-government bodies in Ahmedabad, eventually becoming a corporator in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Elected from the Ghatlodia constituency in 2017 and re-elected in 2022, Patel assumed office for a second term in December 2022 following the BJP’s significant victory in the Gujarat Assembly elections.
Since taking office as Chief Minister, Patel has spearheaded various infrastructure, industrial investment, and governance projects in Gujarat. His tenure has witnessed the state attracting investments in sectors like semiconductors, manufacturing, and renewable energy, alongside progressing initiatives related to urban infrastructure, transportation, and digital governance.
Known for his low-key public presence compared to his predecessors, Patel’s political career has been deeply rooted in organizational and municipal administration roles. Despite this, he continues to represent the Ghatlodia constituency in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and leads the state government in his consecutive term as Chief Minister.
